Metasis Paddy-Based Biogas R& D Prototype – 15 Kg/Hr
Converting Paddy Straw Potential into a Controlled Biogas Process
Paddy straw has a very high biomass potential compared with many other biomass and bio-waste sources available in the market.
From 1 tonne of paddy, the proposed process has the potential to achieve up to 100 kg of purified gas and 200–300 kg of bio-fertilizer.
The Challenge with Paddy Straw
The major challenge in using paddy straw for biogas production is effective pretreatment. Paddy straw can require a relatively long pretreatment time, and achieving the desired level of feed availability for bacteria inside the biodigester is a critical process challenge.
Without the right pretreatment and process conditions, it can be difficult to achieve consistent biological conversion and optimum gas production.
Metasis Pretreatment & Process Development
Metasis has already supplied a challenging pretreatment solution to M/s Farm, helping develop a continuous process for their application.
Based on this experience, Metasis has developed a dedicated 15 Kg/hr R& D Process Skid to study and establish the optimum process conditions before implementing a full-scale paddy-based biogas plant.
The R& D platform focuses on:
Optimum paddy-straw pretreatment
Fast aerobic reaction
Controlled feed preparation
Controlled biological process conditions
Improved gas productivity
Optimization of production cost
Process validation before scale-up
Why R& D Before a Full-Scale Plant?
The right pretreatment + fast aerobic reaction + controlled process must be established before finalizing a commercial-scale plant.
The Metasis R& D skid provides a controlled environment to conduct trials, understand process behaviour and optimize operating parameters.
This approach can significantly reduce the risk of investing crores of rupees in a paddy-based biogas plant without first establishing the right process.
